DNAngel ialah manga dan anime karya Yukiru Sugisaki (杉崎ゆきる). Manga D.N Angel diterbitkan di majalahAsuka dari penerbit Kadokawa pada tahun 1997. Manga ini kemudian diadaptasi kedalam anime sebanyak 26 episode. Di Indonesia, DNAngel diterbitkan oleh m&c comics pada tahun 2002. Hingga saat ini, manga ini telah diterbitkan dalam 13 volume dan masih berlanjut.
Sinopsis
D.N. Angel seri 3
“Daisuke Niwa”, seorang anak laki-laki yang berusia 14 tahun. Ia menyukai Risa Harada, teman sekelasnya. Saat dia memikirkan Risa, maka ia akan berubah menjadi Dark. Dark adalah pencuri ulung yang biasanya mencuri di museum-museum. Dark akan kembali menjadi Daisuke jika ia melihat Riku Harada sambil mengingat satu-satunya wanita yang ia cintai. Wanita itu adalah Rika Harada, nenek dari Risa dan Riku Harada. Walaupun begitu, sebenarnya Riku Harada menyukai Daisuke Niwa dari awal. Risa Harada sendiri menyukai Dark, dan tentu saja, di akhir cerita Daisuke menyadari perasaan sukanya kepada Riku Harada. Dan mereka pun akhirnya pacaran.
Karakter
Daisuke Niwa
Siswa kelas 2 SMP Azumano yang baik hati dan suka menolong. Dia kurang populer di kalangan anak-anak perempuan, tidak heran bahwa Risa Harada tidak terlalu menyukainya. Pada ulang tahunnya yang ke-14, dia menulis surat cinta pada Risa Harada, teman sekelas Daisuke yang disukainya, tetapi ditolak. Sejak saat itu, bila DNA cintanya pada Risa sangat tinggi, maka ia akan berubah menjadi Dark si pencuri ulung. Namun, karena cinta Daisuke pada Risa tidak terbalas, Daisuke patah hati dan berusaha melupakan Risa. Ia dekat dengan Riku Harada, kakak kembar Risa dan pada akhirnya, ia malah menyukai Riku Harada. Kali ini cintanya terbalas, Riku juga suka padanya. Sekarang dia pacaran dengan Riku.
Dark Mousy
Pencuri ulung legendaris yang kembali setelah 40 tahun yang lalu. Bersayap hitam. Bila DNA cinta Daisuke bergejolak, maka Daisuke akan berubah menjadi Dark. Dalam manga,dia menyukai Riku, sedangkan dalam anime dia mencintai Rika Harada, nenek Riku dan Risa. Dark hanya mengincar barang-barang buatan "Hikari" (walaupun dia pernah (hanya satu kali) mencuri barang yang bukan buatan keluarga "Hikari") dan ia menjadi musuh Krad, wujud lain dari Hiwatari. Walaupun ia seorang pencuri, namun ia juga bisa dikenal sebagai "playboy" dan "mesum" karena menyukai semua wanita dan suka sekali menggoda mereka sampai Daisuke kesal.
Satoshi Hiwatari
Teman sekelas Daisuke yang pintar dan punya wujud lain yaitu Krad. Komandan kepolisian tertinggi Azumano. Berasal dari keluarga Hikari. Ada alasan tertentu mengapa dia mengejar Dark. Keluarganya selalu menjadikan keluarga Niwa sebagai musuhnya. Sangat terkenal di kalangan anak-anak perempuan di kelasnya karena dianggap cool.
Krad
Perubahan wujud Satoshi. Bersayap putih. Musuh abadi Dark dan keluarga Niwa.

Kelinci peliharaan keluarga Niwa. Dia takut pada air. Bisa berubah menjadi Daisuke dan Dark. Dialah sayap hitam yang ada pada Dark. Ia sangat menyukai buah stawberry. Pada anime nya diceritakan ia ingin sekali memberikan buah strawberry kepada seekor kelinci di sebuah Pets Shop, namun keinginannya itu tidak tercapai karena kelinci tersebut sudah dibeli oleh orang lain.
Risa Harada (adik)
Teman sekelas Daisuke. Ia jatuh cinta pada Dark. Ia sangat ingin tahu semua tentang Dark. Menolak cinta Daisuke. Sifatnya sangat feminin, dan manis.
Riku Harada (kakak)
Teman sekelas Daisuke. Ciuman pertamanya direbut Dark. Sekarang merupakan pacar Daisuke. Sifatnya sangat tomboi namun periang, sangat bertolak belakang dengan sifat sang adiknya "Risa Harada". Pintar memasak dan mandiri.
Takeshi Saehara
Teman sekelas Daisuke. Putra inspektur Saehara. Dia hobi mengumpulkan berita mengenai Dark dan sangat terobsesi terhadap info-info mengenai Dark.
Black★Rock Shooter (ブラック★ロックシューター, Burakku Rokku Shuutaa) is the titular character and main protagonist of many projects, including the anime OVABlack★Rock Shooter, the RPG of the same name, the anime series and the manga Black★Rock Shooter ~Innocent Soul~. She was an original concept created by huke who participated in the release of the song "Black★Rock Shooter" by supercell.
She is voiced by Kana Hanazawa in the OVA and by Maaya Sakamoto in the PSP game.
Depictions
Original Concept
Black★Rock Shooter's original design is of a pale-skinned, blue-eyed girl, with black hair in uneven twintails; the right lock of her hair is shorter than her left. She bears two scars on her midriff. A blue flame shoots out from her left eye.
Her clothes consist of a string bikini top under a black jacket. The jacket has a white stripe running along the length of each of her sleeves and has a white star design on the front (left side) and back. She also wears a pair of tight-fitting shorts, gloves, and black knee-high boots.
Her weapons consist of a black-hilted katana later named as Black Blade and a large gun called ★rock Cannon.
OVA Adaptation
A shot of Black★Rock Shooter from the OVA, showing her signature blue flame.The OVA adaptation added some details to Black★Rock Shooter. Unlike in her original design, her eyes have a concentric circle pattern, a trait she shares with other characters in the OVA. She is described as being 163cm tall, while her "other self", Mato Kuroi, is 155cm. Black★Rock Shooter is also given a personality in the OVA. She is depecited as a calm and collected girl, not speaking at all until her confrontation with Mato, near the end of the OVA. She also does not focus on anything except the most important thing she has to do at the moment.
She is shown to be very skilled in fighting, despite being quickly taken down by Black★Gold Saw in her first shown battle. Black★Rock Shooter is able to fight evenly with Dead Master, despite appearing to try not to hurt her.
Black★Rock Shooter (referred to in the game as "Stella") undergoes another change of design at the release of the PSP game Black★Rock Shooter THE GAME. One noticeable change is that she now has a pair of metallic wings and a jet engine on her back portion, which allows her to maneuver through the air and cushion landings easily. Her hairstyle is more apparent to Mato Kuroi, with a more spikier look. Her skin color in game is less pale than her original design. Also, she experiences a wider range of emotion than her OVA counterpart.
Black★Rock Shooter ~Innocent Soul~
The manga Black★Rock Shooter ~Innocent Soul~ depicts the titular character with a poncho instead of a jacket to cover her upper body. Also, her ★rock Cannon and Black Blade are merged to form her constant companion, Ron, which comes in the form of a shapeshifting snake around her right arm.
Black★Rock Shooter has been redesigned for the anime, with some new elements possibly inspired by the designs of White Rock Shooter and Black★Rock Shooter Beast, as her new jacket and boots (which are now more blue than black) have similarities to both WRS' and B★RSB's clothing. Like her hairstyle in the PSP game, her hairstyle is more spikier compared to her OVA appearance. She no longer has any scars on her midriff. She wears her trademark hood more often than she does in other media. Black★Rock Shooter in the anime seems to be more brutal than any other B★RS incarnation, having beheaded Chariot and Arata's possible other self, and killed Dead Master.
Black★Rock Shooter is stabbed by Black★Gold Saw. Black★Rock Shooter is initially shown in her world, fighting against Black★Gold Saw for an unknown reason. Though the silhouette is unclear, it looks like Black★Rock Shooter is impaled by Black★Gold Saw and left to be crushed under falling rocks.
She later appears to be waking up and at the edge of a broken bridge. She is now wearing a long trench coat and sporting a new weapon, the ★rock Cannon, along with now displaying her well-known scars. She crosses many different scenes and finally ends up at a castle which turns out to be the residence of the Dead Master. Initially, her reasons for fighting or pursuing the Dead Master are unknown. Black★Rock Shooter holds out her hand to Dead Master. Inside the palace, Black★Rock Shooter finds her opponent; she holds out her hand, and the Dead Master responds by attacking. The two begin their fight, with Black★Rock Shooter igniting her eye and powers, both of them seemingly equal.
The Dead Master manages to ensnare Black★Rock Shooter in a web of chains, where she is apparently trapped. However, as Kuroi Mato comes to terms with her feelings, Black★Rock Shooter gains the strength to break free of her chains with her bare hands. Once again, she holds out her hand to the Dead Master. The Dead Master is confused, and when she falls off a ledge, Black★Rock Shooter pulls her up and embraces her. The Dead Master, unable to handle this, escapes from Takanashi Yomi's body and dissolves.
Black★Rock Shooter is then shown with Kuroi Mato, her human counterpart. She speaks for the first time to ask Mato if she wants to save Yomi. Mato answers that more than saving Yomi, she wants her back with her. Hearing that answer, Black★Rock Shooter and Kuroi Mato merge together. It is unknown at what point the merge was, but it is implied to have been before the Dead Master fight.
Black★Rock Shooter is one of the last residents on a dead Earth, joining the last stand of the remaining forces of Earth to fight against beings called the Seven Apostles. She is considered to be the ultimate weapon, whose abilities are the only hope to save Earth from utter destruction.
Prior to or during the beginning of the game, she seems to be in a tube of some sort, and in a state of stasis.
Black★Rock Shooter is tasked with the duty of maintaining the peace within a world between Heaven and Earth called the Threshold.
Black★Rock Shooter (2012)
After walking around, she comes upon some green mist, and is led into a strange area where she is tormented by mysterious spider-like robotic creatures and Chariot. At one point, she screams in pain as one of the robots stabs and drills into her stomach.
She is then accosted by Dead Master and is chained up, but she quickly reverses the chains. However, a horde of spiders surrounds Dead Master and carries her away, causing Black★Rock Shooter to pursue her.
She finds her in a floating house in the sky, hidden within a doll and chained up. She reaches for her but is stopped by Chariot and her spider robot. The robot begins to fire macaroons at her, but she takes out her gun and shoots at them; the robot fires a torrent of macaroons at her, and she upgrades her gun to a machine gun-like contraption that blows them all away and destroys the spider robot.
During that time Dead Master begins to break free from her chains, and Black★Rock Shooter gains the upper hand. The chains recede into the sky, causing the world to fall apart. However, this is driven to a halt as a large red blade is driven into the sky, stopping this and suspending the destruction in midair, as if time had been stopped for the destruction. She sees Black★Gold Saw on top of Chariot.
Black★Gold Saw cuts a fissure into the ground, dragging Dead Master into it and apart from Black★Rock Shooter, and vanishes. Chariot takes the opportunity to charge at Black★Rock Shooter with a blade, but Black★Rock Shooter quickly activates the blue flame on her eye and beheads Chariot.
Later, she breaks into Black★Gold Saw's lair, and causes rocks to fall onto the mysterious hooded figures that she has created. She shoots at Black★Gold Saw, who dodges and presumably escapes. She approaches one of the hooded figures, which resembles Arata Kohata, and holds a hand out to her. However, the figure recedes and trembles in fear, and in response, she ignites her flame, grabs the figure, and beheads it.
When Dead Master starts to become unstable, she goes to investigate. When Dead Master summons a castle and minions, she attempts to shoot her but is hit by one of Dead Master's floating skulls and hits a wall. She then readies her gun and fires at Dead Master.
At the climax of the battle, Mato Kuroi merges with her in order to save Yomi Takanashi; however Black★Rock Shooter has already killed Dead Master by the time she arrives. The shock of having killed Yomi's "other self" causes Black★Rock shooter to combine red flames into the blue flames around her eye, resulting in a purple flame. A red light appears in her pupils and she seems to go insane.
White Rock Shooter or WRS (ホワイト・ロック・シューター Howaito Rokku Shūtā) is a character for the RPG Black★Rock Shooter THE GAME, taking the role of the main antagonist and the final boss.
Originally, she is known as Sing Love (シング・ラブ), a famous singer on Earth before the alien invasion that decimated most of Earth and the human population.
WRS is voiced by Maaya Sakamoto.
Appearance
White Rock Shooter's appearance consists of a white and magenta futuristic outfit as a theme. She wields a giant curved scythe (as big as her) named "White Scythe" with ease. She also wields a Rock Cannon and a 'White Blade'. She has two white "wings" sticking out of her back, composed of four smaller wings each. In her EX mode, these become more apparent to angel wings, with a halo like object on the far back. These can engulf themselves in magenta flames while in battle. Both wings have a black star on them.
Parallel to BRS, her flame is on the right side rather than left and its color is magenta.
Her hair is separated into two even long twintails.
Her appearance is similar to Black★Rock Shooter, but more complicated and the main colors are magenta and white, compared to Black★Rock Shooter's black and blue color theme.
Plot
WRS is an extraterrestrial being that arrived on Earth in a human form as Sing Love on 24th December 2031, nearly 20 years before the story of BRS THE GAME. As a "human" she resides in San Francisco as a singer named Sing Love. Her song was very popular and became a chart hit, with her image appearance on posters in cities such as San Francisco and New York. Despite her popularity, little was known about her identity.
She later worked with Professor Gibson and participated in human cloning. She is the source of the Gray clones, including Nana and Stella, of which the latter is addressed as "White" as Stella is considered as the perfect clone of WRS.
Apart from the end of the tutorial, WRS did not make appearance in the game until the end. Her identity was hinted by the Sing Love posters dotted in cities, as well as the aliens addressing her indirectly as the "Governor" (総督, Soutoku).
Stella confronts WRS in Moon Terrace, where she presumably resides for the duration of the game. It is revealed that everything was behind her doing: Be it the alien invasion, mankind's destruction, and her clones, they were all part of her "game". Among those her most desired "game" is to fight against her perfect clone. Ultimately she lost in the battle with Stella. In her final words, she said it no longer matters who remain on Earth as both her and Stella are "the same", and that she has enjoyed what she has desired.
Battle Skills
Making World (メイキングワールド, Meikingu Wārudo) - Boosts her Attack stats and enables life recovery for a short period of time.
Dead End (デッドエンド, Deddo Endo) - WRS rotates her scythe counterclockwise, forming multiple pink cannonballs, and aiming at BRS. It is impossible to escape their fury.
EX Mode
White Doctrine (ホワイトドクトリン, Howaito Dokutorin) - She is completely immune to damage and possibly effects from any BRS' battle skills. This effect may last very long; WRS can only be damaged by normal attacks.
Grateful Sun Ray (グレイトフル サン レイ, Gureitofuru San Rei) - WRS transforms her large wings and cannon into a giant-turret like cannon. At the top, a sun like figure begins to rotate counterclockwise, charging a very large energy ball, and WRS fires from behind. The large energy ball can be damaged and can divide itself until it/they hit BRS or if it/they was seriously damaged a lot.
